In response to House Speaker John Boehner’s latest email to those interested in hearing from him, I felt I had to write back to him.

Dear Speaker Boehner,

I just got your latest collection of lies, half-truths and miss-representations about health care reform in this country, by email.  (“delay and dismantle ObamaCare”  Web version: http://www.speaker.gov/general/protecting-all-americans-obamacare-s-mandates-0. )

Take a look in the mirror. YOU are why I sent hundreds of dollars to President Obama’s re-election campaign. YOU are why I’m going to start sending money to Planned Parenthood. This month. Your craven pandering to the Idiotic wing of the Republican Party reveals you as a spineless coward who lies everyone, about everything, to maintain a fancy title and the public eye.

Your party is a mockery of its founders and principles. As Speaker of the House, a National office specified in the Constitution, you are my employee and you have abused your office, the public trust and both reason and dignity for years. I look forward to your losing your job as speaker, either by the permanent marginalization and irrelevance of your party, or a victim of its moral death throes, when Paul Ryan or worse challenges and defeats you because you’re not as crazy and hateful as they are. The Tea Party is mostly idiots but some of them are so dim I can even accept they are sincere. You are obviously not that ignorant or unskilled. Which makes you morally responsible for the choices you make, and well deserving of the rebuke you will ultimately receive from this great country. Maybe you should grow some dignity and tell the truth instead of the blatant falsehoods you and your office produce every week.

Frankly, I hope its a Tea Party organization with tax exempt “educational” status that brings you down. A little rough justice there. I’m as flawed as any human, and I make plenty of mistakes. But I have never imagined that political groups I support are entitled offer tax deductions to their contributors. I make my money by building products and selling them to others. I take some of my money and send it to support organizations and politicians who advocate what I support. I know what an educational organization looks like and I know how that differs from a political organization. I prefer to have what lawyers call a “bright line” between the two. Can there be a more obvious example of the corrupt, win-at-any-cost moral vacuum that “conservatives” have fallen to than you and your crocodile tears about the IRS challenging tax exemption for “Tea Party” ‘educational’ organizations?

When I send my money to Planned Parenthood, I don’t expect a tax deduction. I expect to stop a bunch of older men in gray suits who wants to humiliate any woman seeking an abortion. Its politics. It’s you and the people you serve and empower, people who can’t do the business *I* need my government concerned with, but CAN take time for 34 grandstanding and ineffective votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and mandating trans-vaginal ultrasounds, that cause me to send money to people who will oppose you.

By all means keep me on your email list. It keeps the stakes clear to me. Many people are sick of Washington, sick of political parties, sick of people who don’t listen to each other. Well, I’m listening to you. I hear you. And I will never have to explain why I didn’t do something to oppose you.
